#Dear DJDIARY, #JAVIBORA Wednesday, 23 July, 2014

A lot of House and Electronic music has become commercialised nowadays.

Once upon a time House music, Electronic music and sub-genres of each were reserved for the underground rave scene.

And yes, it’s great to see House music and Electronic music has progressed, being accepted and appreciated by society at large. But sometimes you just can’t beat hearing them phat dirty bass lines drop in the free, artistic style of the underground.

Spaniard DJ and producer, Javi Bora, knows the underground scene oh too well and it’s the style he is sticking to.

This is #DJDIARYENTRY/EIGHT

Javi likes his Deep House and Groovy House, producing tracks balanced between these two styles.

But there's always room to change it up and at the moment he is "preparing some Techno-related stuff which is going to be released through an international label," Javi says.

Javi has been DJing nationally in Spain since 2008. And has had a residency at Space Ibiza's Kehakuma since 2012.

He’s no stranger to the international circuit either, travelling the world with the Space brand. He was even in Australia last winter.

“I went on a mini-tour around Sydney, playing at the Space Ibiza Festival Australia, in Greenwood, and in two more clubs. It was mind-blowing...and the Australian crowd was fantastic!” Javi says with a smile.

The best of European summer is just starting to kick in full throttle and Javi loves it. He performed at Space Ibiza’s 25th birthday party two weeks back and in a few weeks time will be at Space Moscow just casually DJing before Carl Cox headlines.

“Being part of the number one club (Space Ibiza) in the world...I just can’t ask for more! It’s the dream of every DJ and I’m really happy...I’m so glad to play both in the club and for the global tours,” Javi beams.

Interestingly, despite all his touring Javi still hasn’t DJ’d in Mykonos or on the Croatian Islands, but having visited both he says they don’t compare to the magical atmosphere of Ibiza.

“From what I’ve seen around the world, the difference between Ibiza and other locations is indescribable,” Javi says.

“It’s about the atmosphere; the magic of Ibiza.”

So with European summer grinning at all us pale people #DJDIARIES was intrigued to see what track Javi thinks will be a European summer hit?

“Well, I hope one of my productions!” Javi laughs.

“Actually, from my point of view everything is going back to the origins, especially in House and Techno, to how it used to be about twenty years ago before the great trends. Back to the roots, in a word.”

Okay, so we delved deeper and decided to ask what Javi thought of ‘Walking with Elephants’ by Ten Walls which was the most Shazamed song in Ibiza at the time of this interview.

“I think that track is quite cool, but it’s not the kind of music I play. I’m not really a big fan of trends...I just hope the best music, the one with a heart, made with passion, becomes as popular as possible,” Javi says.

“My style is underground and will probably always be. I’m happy with that.” And so are we.

#DJDIARY/QUESTION

Q: If you could sit in on any producer/s studio time, who would it be and why?

A: I’d do so with many! [laughs] To name a few, I’d say Moodyman, Henrik Schwarz, Chez Damier, Ron Trent… I’d choose them because I really love the music they produce, their creativity, their ability to transmit emotions.
