German producer and DJ, Zedd, has been hit with some devastating news. He tweeted the following message:
Zedd undoubtedly has a demanding work schedule, as do most on the international DJ scene. But it seems between festival sets, clubs and track releases; Zedd has done damage to his left ear.
The sound of a normal conversation is considered 60 decibels, at only 85dB the human ear reaches the beginning of hearing damage range and earplugs should be worn.
Now, how loud is it when we’re at a festival or club!? We’re exposed to 125dB and upwards, and as you may well known this is for periods of anywhere from a few hours to 10 hours straight!
127dB is when you start to hear ringing in your ears.
Exposure to sound at such a high level of volume for vast hours can mildly damage our ears, or worse damage them permanently. We are hoping the former for Zedd and wish him a full recovery.
