When Otto Blücker began to upload his recorded house party sets onto Soundcloud, he thought, why not take it to the next level. And soon his monthly podcast RADIO VAYS was born.
RADIO VAYS attracts 1, 500 listeners a month and strives to expand its audience. Based in Sweden, Otto’s underlying goal is to connect with DJs and producers across the globe.
“The podcast is a great way to introduce new producers and DJs, to tryout upcoming releases and reach a wider audience,” Otto says.
The show gives artists the opportunity to expand their fan base, and in turn gives Otto the same opportunity. But what really motivates Otto is his passion for music.
“Music is about emotion explained through sound... I think it’s meant to be shared. It’s universal.” Otto says.
What really excites Otto is the feedback he receives from the show.
He explains how one day you have positive feedback from Northern Sweden and the next you’re receiving compliments from LA after having someone like Danny Ray on the show.
“It’s inspiring to hear people talk about the show up in Northern Sweden, especially after we had Persson and Hardfeldt as our first guests... When we had Danny Ray on RADIO VAYS we got a lot of compliments from across the globe.”
Since creating the podcast, Otto has founded his own record label “VAYS” with DJ and producer Michael Casado.
“I’ve always been interested in marketing. It’s inevitable not to mention Swedish House Mafia or Amy Thompson when talking about marketing and music.”
Otto says he is inspired by entrepreneurs: “I’m inspired by a lot of different people, it goes in periods. Sometimes it might be Steve Jobs, another time, The Avengers,” he laughs.
When asked how he fell into DJing and producing, Otto says it was “inevitable to end up doing something creative,” having grown up in an artistic family.
He grew up taking dance classes with his sister and now Otto dances professionally.
“I ended up dancing for years and later on I co-founded the dance company COMPLETE. On a lot of our gigs I ended up editing music. The step from editing to producing music is very small.”
