Dear #DJDIARY,

If you’ve ever done any form of education, there’s always that moment when you think ‘maybe I should drop out and pursue my true passion...’

Portuguese music producer, Daniel Fernandes, did exactly that.

He bravely dropped out of university so he could devote himself exclusively to music production and has been riding the waves of success ever since.

A combination of his love for music and the accessibility to production software edged Daniel to start producing in his teens.

“The first thing that made me start was my love for music,” Daniel says. “Then the possibly to make music so easily, for example all you need is one PC and the software to start making your own beats...”

His experimenting resulted in some tech house tracks, and now produces some deep house. But he says he is motivated by various styles.

“I'm inspired by all kinds of sounds...artists like Brodinski, Kolombo, Portuguese artist’s like Mirror People and more,” Daniel Says.

“Music genres like hip hop, trap...I really like to experiment and try new things.”

He says his big awe moment was when Kolombo played one of his tracks at the Warung Day Festival held in Brazil.

“Kolombo played my track ‘Pop that thang’ at Warung Festival opening and it was amazing to see the reaction of the crowd...the energy was insane!” Daniel beams.

Today, Daniel has tracks under various labels including Bunny Tiger and LouLou Records. And if often collaborating with house artists like Tapesh, LouLou Players and Sharam Jey.

LouLou Players believes Daniel has great potential: “Daniel has a really good way of working. He listens to what people say. If you give him advice, you can be sure it’s noted in his mind.”

“He’s becoming a really good name... his tracks, they are always in the top,” LouLou Players finishes.

The youngster hasn’t performed in Australia yet but says: “I would love to play there in the near future.”
