Stafford Brothers: Q&A

They are Australia’s favourite electro brothers and with breakout hits like Wicked Child and Hello, it’s no wonder why.

The Stafford Brothers are known for bringing the heat to the party, and with a sound infused in the depths of house, electro and progressive house they never fall short of entertaining the crowd.

Matt and Chris Stafford have had a successful career that spans back almost a decade, involved in mixing The Electro House Sessions with Tommy Trash back in 2007 and The Clubbers Guide To 2009, among other DJ mixes is an indication of just how good these Aussies were from a young age.

To cement their popularity they were crowned Australia’s number DJs three years in a row in the ITM Awards. Yep, that’ll do it.

1. You boys grew up with the sound of your dad either playing cords on guitar or keys on a piano – did this kindle your initial love for music?

I think it definitely did, it also made us hate country music.

2. In Part 1 of the Stafford Bro’s TV series Matt says: “We lied to get our first gig, we couldn’t even DJ.” Can you recall and describe what went down at this event?

We filled it all with our mates and basically had a crazy party, the promoters liked it so we went from there.

3. What are you working on in the studio at the moment?

New single is dropping this month with two big artists we finished recording yesterday.

4. Like normal siblings there are moments when you get on each other’s nerves. What’s an interesting story between you boys that proves this theory?

We try not to get on each other’s nerves and walk away when one of us is about to burst as we need to keep working together all the time!

5. If you guys could take a gap year from touring and making music, what would you do instead?

Go snowboarding and surfing.

6. What do The Stafford Brothers have planned for the remainder of 2015?

Touring and making music, I wish it was the above instead.

7. Milk & Milo, peanut M&Ms or Kinder Surprise?

Peanut M&Ms!
