Adelaide to Host Australian MotoGP from 2027

Australian motorsport is preparing for a new era, with Adelaide set to become the home of the Australian MotoGP from 2027.

The announcement marks the end of an era for Phillip Island, which has hosted the country's premier motorcycle racing event for decades and earned a reputation as one of the most iconic circuits on the MotoGP calendar. Under a new agreement, Adelaide will host the Australian round from 2027 onwards, bringing the world's best riders to South Australia.

The move is expected to boost tourism and reinforce Adelaide's standing as one of Australia's leading sporting and event destinations. The city has a proud motorsport history, having previously hosted the Australian Formula One Grand Prix between 1985 and 1995 before the event relocated to Melbourne.

While organisers have confirmed that MotoGP will race in Adelaide from 2027, details surrounding the circuit layout are yet to be released. They have secured the circuit on the MotoGP calendar until at least 2032.

The Victorian Government had offered additional funding in an effort to retain MotoGP at Phillip Island, but negotiations ultimately resulted in the event being awarded to Adelaide from 2027.

The announcement has generated division among motorsport fans.
